The play's the thing at the Pacific Resident Theatre, where classic plays by great writers receive innovative, often lavish productions. Since its founding in 1985, the company has garnered more than 80 awards, including L.A. Drama Critics Circle, Dramalogue, NAACP, LA Weekly and Garlands — and their list of critically acclaimed work grows with each season. In 1997 every production received at least one "critic's choice." The actors who make up this membership company seek meaty scripts with strong roles, then find nontraditional ways to present them.
