I was in the area for work/vacation. The food was savory and the company more than I could ever wish for which made for a superb experience. Loved it!

I've been several times now (both lunch and dinner) and had a great experience each time. It's got great energy and the staff are pleasant and accessible. The food is outstanding and there is always something interesting on the menu. I'll be back!

I recently went to NOOK, and your reviewer was quite right...It was very hard to find! However the food was quite good, especially the pork chop. Although trying to get reservations anytime other than 5:00 or 5:15 is tough. The wine list is OK, although most of the wines listed are average. Make a reservation a week in advance, and be prepared for a loud and noisy dining experience. As is the trend lately with new restaurants, there are too many hard surfaces that reflect and amplify sound.

My date and I ate at the Nook Bistro recently and hated both our entrees. She had the strange-tasting roast chicken and I had the even worse-tasting short ribs. I still can't get the taste out of my mouth. The portion size was miniscule but, in this case, it was a good thing. The atmosphere is grungy industrial and the choices of side dishes, especially the vegetables, is lame. Service was fine. I don't understand the TImes' good review (which is why we went there) and will not be returning.

What a shame to see a decent place change with a good printed review or two. From people being turned away at lunch to the annoying recorded phone message (you can walk in and you'll have to wait, but you'll be seated...eventually), why would anyone pay to be treated with attitude? With terrible acoustics and cramped tables or an even more uncomfortable family-style center table, even the good (but not great) food at good (but not bargain) prices doesn't outweigh the newfound arrogance.

My husband ate there once for lunch and liked the food, but I have never been able to eat there. Walked in for lunch one day, too long a wait PLUS major attitude. Wanted to try again, called this time to make a reservation, recording said no reservations are available but "you are welcome to walk in and have a long wait, and will be seated eventually". Sorry, no more chances.

Rarely do I rave about restaurants in LA, but this place makes my list of best places in LA. The host, Brian, was calm, friendly and accomodating. It was not too noisy and the size of the restaurant (small) makes it intimate and enjoyable. The food was fabulous:flavorful but not doused in spices - just perfect. For dessert, we chose the banana chocolate bread pudding. I would go back if only for this. All in all, it was a wonderful experience. I cannot say enough good things about this place.
