If you're offended by the aesthetics of fast food — the mass-market, lowest-denominator execution and packaging — but you've got some affection for potentially noble foodstuffs such as hamburgers, hot dogs and fries, then grab the kids and head for West L.A.'s Colony Café. It's a pleasantly freakish anomaly for this city: a tastefully appointed, preppily cheerful burger joint.

Steph Los Angeles, CAYuck. What a waste of a lunch hour. The tuna melt was not melted and it was slathered with the ubiquitous garlic aioli. It tasted horrible. My friend's chicken sandwhich was charred and dry, probably cooked yesterday and microwaved. From the patio we enjoyed the traffic noise and fumes on Pico. The service was beyond indifferent. An overall lousy, overpriced meal. October 6, 2006
