There Is A Place Like Home Rustic Canyon feels reminiscent of those La Scala Boutique days in the late 70s. Back then, that place was my 2nd home. Rustic Canyon isn't Italian cuisine, but its intimate setting and the best chopped salad I've had in years takes me back to a bygone era I terribly miss. And those pastries: exquisite mysteries that make a girl with a no-sugar rule feel lured into carbo-load. If I can't go back in time, I can look forward to eating at Rustic Canyon SOON!

Overpriced, WAY too noisy and the "no substitutions" policy translates into "the customer is always wrong" -- who needs that? Some good dishes: tomato soup, sea bass, fried green tomatoes, succotash. Some forgettable: tasteless vegetable lasagne, underwhelmining burgers, bland creamy polenta. Slow service; food didn't come up at the right times. We won't go back.

We had a great time, with out any problems or issues. We were 30 min late and our table was ready. The hostess and waitress were very sweet and helpful. The food was great and the wine was good. We had a booth which was quieter, so the noise was not an issue, but our table was somewhat cramped. This is a gourmet-ish restaurant in pricey santa moncia so you need to expect an expensive outing. 4 of us spent $300 out the door, which is typical on the west side for an evening out.

Too much attitude. Food's o.k. but owner's point of view dominates. Community tables, no substitutions on the menu. Place is very noisy. This is L.A., where there's tons of restaurants. Do we need this?

mgt. is very impressed with themselves and is not customer oriented. communal tables is a mgt. philosophy that makes no sense to me. no substitutions on the menu. not flexible about anything. there way or the highway. brought a half bottle of wine with me and they charged $25. food is o.k. place is very very noisy. would not go back unless invited on someone elses nickle.

My wife and I showed up @ 5:30 on 4/10 and were offered a communial seating arrangement. We declined and went on our way. Fortunately the always good El Cholo was just around the corner. It is clear that this restaurant was more bent on increasing the seating capacity than providing good service. I would never go back.

Rustic Canyon over-delivered. The wine selection was fantastic and the food wonderful. we were there with 7 other people and everyone loved their meal. Service was polished.

Rustic Canyon was very disappointing. It was noisy, as I had read before going, and the food was medicore. The waiter was very attentive and the service was quite good, but it could not make up for unimaginative and relatively tasteless food and a very limited menu with few, if any, appealing choices. My favorite item was the cheese flatbread. I will not go back.
