The breakfasts are pretty good with large portions but stay away for lunch and dinner. I had the Mac and Cheese last night and I nearly threw it up. Really bad. Especially the vegetables. Right out of a can and probably cooked for three hours.

The Set-Up: coleslaw, sourdough bread, and hash browns. The best option, not on the menu, but the waiter will serve it up quicker than you can spit out the words. Goes well with a whiskey drunk.

Breakfast is great, the rest of the meals are AWFUL, but, as the joke goes, the servings are big.

Born in East Los Angeles, my father was one of the Pantry's original customers, as he recalled to me, it was great food in 1924, and still remains great food today. I would like to add Dewey Logan's name in remembrance as one who started one of the best in Los Angeles Gary D. O'Dell angeleno of 40 years

I've eaten there twice since 1966 and twice is more than enough. The wait is too long, the restaurant is ill kept, the food is bland, greasy and over priced. I'm sure that I've eaten worse but I just can't remember when or where.

The food is not that tasty is literally dump out from a tin can and reheated.

Jace LA,

What's up with all the hype? Food as bland and as it gets.

By far, the best ham and cheese omlette you'll find anywhere. I order mine with mushrooms and chopped tomatos inside. Combine this with their crispy/tender potatos and you've got a breakfast fit for a king !!! George Feher

I just shake my head when I pass this place and see the line out the door. Ate here half a dozen times and find it incredibly overrated. The restaurant is noisy and crowded, and the food is jnothing but your average, undistinguished greasy spoon fare. It's all hype. It's not even the "original" location, but was moved there in the early 1950s I think.
