Heard about El Coyote for years and wanted to check out the last restaurant actress Sharon Tate along with three of her friends ate before they were shot and stabbed to death a few hours later. The food was mediocre but the margartias were great. We wanted to sit at the booth Sharon and Co. sat in but it was occupied. Apparently, people obsessed with the case call and ask for that booth.

my dad used to wash dishes at el coyote right after the war.(1946) the story i remember is about how the help used to play poker in the kitchen after work and a big rat would sit on top of the refrigerator and watch them. needless to say, i never ate there.

Okay, if you want good mexican food, don't come here. The food was very greasy, the beans were not hot, and our drinks were watered down. When there are so many other mexican restaurants in L.A., why eat at a bad one? And I'm mexican, so I should know! Sorry, try others first.

We've been going to El Coyote for more than 30 years and love it. It's a place with lots of energy and no attitude. Celebrity sightings are not uncommon. For something a little different, order a chicken burrito with grilled onions on top & drizzle the house dressing over it. It's not on the menu but they'll be happy to make it. If you're looking for a happening place with great drinks, decent food at fair prices, and a competent staff - this is it.

el coyote, rocks. I"ve been going there for margaritas and guacamole for almost 15 years. I've been to spago's nobu and every other fancy southern california eatery. el coyote is simply the best. Roberta, and George are the best servers. go to el coyote and enjoy, ignore the naysayers. Addios
