A deli(cious) institution from the old days of MacArthur (Westlake) Park. Since 1947.

For under five bucks you can get a big jar of Langer's kosher dills (just tangy and crisp enough) to go, although you damn well better bring back the jar. Also, you can call ahead with your order and some nice person will bring it curbside. Al Langer established Langer's in 1947. His son Norm runs the place now, with his father checking in every so often. Almost forced out of business during the recession of the early '90s, Langer's was revitalized by the nearby Metro Red Line subway stop.

 Venue Details
Cuisine Deli , Kosher
Ambience Serious regulars and downtown office workers (folks joke that the Red Line stop at MacArthur Park was designed solely to help government bureaucrats get their Langer's fix).
Best dishes Famous for their pastrami, which is good in pretty much all of their combos; regulars vote the #44 their favorite (pastrami and sauerkraut with cheese), but you can't go wrong with the brisket or corned beef, either.
Drink picks Beer, wine, Dr. Brown's sodas.
Of Note Langer's sandwich secret is the rye bread -- crusty outside and really soft inside.
