Named for the owner's grandfather, this is a Boston Irish pub with an emphasis on Sox and Patriots games, and Beantown menu twists such as New England clam chowder, clam boats (fried clams on a roll) and lobster rolls. Young and personable guy staffers cover their heads with baseball hats declaring team allegiances and their backs with surf equipment T-shirts. The décor is heavy on New England sports stuff such as sleds and snow shoes, which hang on the walls of a spacious room, divided into cozy areas with booths, tables and bar seating. The coffee-shop style menu features decent fish and chips, credible salads and sandwiches, and even a few pastas. (Also Saturday night lobster feasts.) Twenty-one beers are on tap, including domestics.

I love this place. Mind you, I don't "do" pubs, but Sonny has THE best fried clams with bellies west of the Rockies. Everyone, including the servers, seemed to be having a wonderful time every time I've been there. So if you're at all interested in fried clams with bellies, or even just looking for a fun place to have a brew, I'd recommend Sonny's.

Even Boston fans can be friendly. Best night of the week.....Wednesdays. The world famous Misfits rule the joint and Rob has the most complete Kareoke collection. Joe Cocker has been known to visit and you never know when its going to be a 'Nuggest-fest". Jim, Mike and Stacey are great hosts.

This place is not a legal pub, they serve 16oz glasses calling them pints when 20oz's is the legal standard pint.- Expensive, expensive, expensive and they want they're 15% tips on top of their expensive prices. If you want a drink that is a legal pub, it has to serve 20oz as a pint for example. Don't get ripped off here.
