Family-style is the most accurate description of this restaurant. Lasher's is family owned and operated, with home-cooking and a homey atmosphere. The Lasher family decided that what Long Beach needed was an upscale American-style restaurant that served food like Mom used to make, and so opened a restaurant in a restored California bungalow. Every room in the house is a dining area. The front parlor, with its cozy fireplace, is delightful -- but dining in the library, back bedroom or on the flower-filled patio is also a nice experience. Try the cranberry-sauce-encrusted meatloaf with silky mashed potatoes. Street parking and adjacent lot parking available.

Lasher's serves excellent Continental cuise and it can be a lovely place for a special occaision. However, I have to agree with the other reviewers on a few key points. The atmosphere inside the house can be warm and cramped - last time we were seated by a noisy bus station and when I asked to move I was treated poorly. The service is not at the level one would expect from a restaurant of this quality. Sit in the garden, enjoy the food and hope the service will not ruin your evening.
