With tofu omelettes, planet burgers, and nine-vegetable sautés on the menu, it's hard not to think of Good Earth as a haven for the Birkenstock-wearing, granola-crunching crowd. But be forewarned: the words "health" and "food" are never uttered together inside its doors. Instead, Good Earth tries to offer "good, imaginative food" without totally going the way of the alfalfa sprout.
Indeed, the restaurant offers a wide range of fare from its exceptionally large menu, everything from gourmet pizzas and pastas to hot cakes and stir-fry to tuna melts and chicken enchiladas. A big draw is the restaurant's homemade breads, desserts, and salad dressings, available with your meal or to take out and eat with your favorite dishes at home. (They also offer boxed Good Earth teas to go, including peppermint, black, and orange spice.) -- Sue Alexander
