This restaurant has a loyal following among executives in the high-rises lining Brand Boulevard and well-heeled residents from foothill neighborhoods overlooking the city. A New York-style eatery, Gennaro's has a cozy lounge area with granite and blond wood accents, and a prominent fireplace. The dining room features generously spaced tables, a few plush booths, flattering lighting and etched glass. The wait staff is formal but not stuffy. The Italian-Continental menu offers beef carpaccio, sautéed wild mushrooms with goat cheese, osso buco, porcini risotto, veal chop, rack of lamb, duck in Grand Marnier sauce and a host of pastas. The wine list is deep with Chianti Classicos, Barolos and Barbarescos. Open for lunch Monday through Friday; dinner is served Monday through Saturday. -- Roger J. Grody
