Sushi Sasabune
Hours: Lunch, Mon.-Fri.; dinner, Mon.-Sat. Readers' rating: Reader reviews: Write a review | Read other reviews Sushi Sasabune, the hole in the wall sushi joint known for its pristine fish, has moved from its modest Sawtelle Boulevard digs of some 12 years to the old Todai space in West L.A. Chef-owner Nobi Kusuhara cited the former location's small size and lack of parking as the main reasons for the westward move.

annie west los angeles, cabeen eating at this restaurant for years, like the food, however, had been over-charged a few times, from a few dollars to close to $100 most recently..i generally do not review the bill, however every time i did i discovered the charges to be inaccurate. the strange thing is without exception, the waitress not only did not acknowlege the mistake, the bill get adjusted voluntarily without a word. does anyone else have smiliar experience? BoBo Los Angeles, CAThis is among my favorite top 3 sushi restaurants in LA/OC. Yes, Sasabune is pretty expensive, but the chef know how to choose fresh fishes everyday. The sushi that the chefs made are based from the traditional Edo style which I tasted from the high-class sushi restaurants in Tokyo, warm rice with a decent size of melt-in-your-mouth fish. Not everyone appreciate this style of sushi, but if you like it, you'll totally love it. October 4, 2006
Foodie-Boy Los Angeles, CAI recently went to this restaurant and had a horrible experience. The sushi chef seemed to drench everything in ponzu sauce, the cuts of fish were small, distorted and mangled, the sushi rice ranged from adequate to gummy, and the green tea ice cream was horrendous. Thee food quality has fallen here, and I don't think I will go back. Write a review | Read more reviews Venue Details
