Aside from being one of L.A.'s most entertaining chefs, owner Larry Nicola is also one of the most talented. Nic's, his sleek restaurant/martini lounge in the heart of Beverly Hills, is a modern-day rendition of a supper club from a bygone Hollywood era, without appearing pretentious. Plush, roomy booths, candle-lit tables with buttercup yellow linen, and a collection of eclectic art make the room inviting to a diverse crowd. Live jazz, R&B and other musical performances keep the place humming on weekends -- the perfect scene in which to nurse a chocolate or Tangerine Dream martini from the restaurant's innovative bar.

Nicola's New American cooking is infused with any number of ethnic influences, which keeps it interesting and contemporary. Starters include deliciously rich gnocchi with morel mushrooms in Champagne cream, peppered ahi with grapefruit, soy and tamarind, and Nicola's famous sautéed oysters on spinach with walnuts and garlic. Grilled rib-eye, sesame-flavored salmon with ginger beer butter, and rack of lamb are available as entrées.

SUPER PLACE..GREAT MARTINIS AND ROMANCE AND DECENT PRICES AND ATMOSPHERE..I WAS SUPRISED WHILE DRINKING WITH A LADY I JUST MET THERE AS SHE PUT HER HAND ON MYDICK AND IT WAS WILD FROM THERE!

I just love this place! The service , the music, the MARTINI'S! The food was sooo good. I'm sorry/glad I don't live closer...they would have to get me a cot. When I'm in L.A. it's all about how fast I can get there and get into the Vodbox! I hope it's there forever!

I mean this spot is everything you need to go out and have a blast in LA. It can be drinks, apps or sit down in the dinning room that has traits of miami-cuba-and the california coast in its design and the cusine is untouchable... tis is the real deal....the music is so alive it beats almost everything else going down in the city...martinis now these guys are the pros...shak them down and drink them up.
