An honest coffee shop can be hard to find in Los Angeles, but Dinah's is the genuine article. It's as familiar to native Angelenos as sunshine and Dodger Dogs. No matter where you're coming from, Dinah's is just about halfway to the airport, and it's a great place to stop to and/or fro. Dinah's wears its age and "family" restaurant status well, as they should, still serving up the kind of fare that makes you warm and happy inside. It's also one L.A. locale that's pleasantly devoid of writer-director-producers and actress-model-waitresses, so if all-you-can-eat fried chicken is more your style, come on down and grab a booth.

Coffee and apple pancakes are die for. Coffee is RICH and HOT. Apple pancakes are loaded with apples and cinnamon, not just a pancake with apple toppings. Packed holidays and weekends speaks for itself. Try the BBQ ribs which fall off the bone, seafood pasta or Dutch Baby a huge bowl shaped cake with lemon and butter. No one does the apple pancake or dutch baby better. Pancake house in Redondo is good but nowhere near Dinah' Since about 1958, this speaks for itself. Best in the US fried chicken.

This place is trapped in time. The food is only marginally better than a Denny's or a Norm's, but you can't beat the scene... The sense that this is where this part of Los Angeles is centered.

Never know what kind of service you will get, but there is no mistaking the food. The sign says Dinah's Chicken, and they do everything with chicken, well.
