All India Cafe
12113 Santa Monica Blvd.
West L.A., CA
310-442-5250
All India Cafe is a venture of brothers Lakhvir and Santokh Singh, the latter a former chef at West L.A.'s renowned Bombay Cafe. As the name implies, this restaurant offers dishes from throughout the sub-continent. Start with potato pancakes topped with onions, tamarind and green chili chutney; a thin griddlecake made with cream of wheat, or pakoras (deep-fried fritters filled with onion, shrimp or fish). Entrées include curries, aromatic tandoori dishes and burrito-like rolls often sold from pushcarts on the beaches of Bombay.
While this eatery may not be the Taj Mahal, the incorporation of Indian artwork and other authentic touches create a dining room that is a pleasant place in which to enjoy your spirited culinary journey.
