Glencrest Bar-B-Q
1146 Abbot Kinney Blvd.
Venice, CA
310-399-9641

Heavenly burgers, that's right.

Popular food: Not just a barbecue joint as in slab o' ribs, but you can choose from half a dozen barbecue sandwiches, bacon cheese burger, crusty fries loaf; soul food standbys like fried chicken, cornbread, collard greens, red beans 'n' rice and chicken 'n' dumplings.

Unique food: Four different kinds of homemade cake.

Drinks: Soft drinks, sweet iced tea, lemonade.

Seating: Counter with three seats, two tables on sidewalk.

Ambience: No frills; if you stand inside for more than two minutes, you'll smell like fried food for the rest of the day.

Extras/Notes: Both the handmade sign saying "I guess God needed a cook" and the padlock have finally disappeared from the door. With brother Glen smiling down on his namesake, the burgers are even more heavenly now.

Parking: Street (fine on weekdays, hell on weekends).
