We wish there were more places like Back on the Beach, a bougainvillea-covered shack where you can literally dig your feet into the sand. It's especially popular in the summer, when cyclists and skaters roll in off the bike path for a satisfying breakfast quesadilla or Fred's Salad, named for owner Fred Deni.


Hours: Winter hours, 8 a.m.-3 p.m. daily; summer hours (April 15 onward), 8 a.m.-9 p.m. daily.
