The terrace, one of three charming dining areas at Pasadena's Twin Palms restaurant.

This restaurant may have lost its celebrity owner (Kevin Costner) and celebrity chef (Michael Roberts), but not its popularity, particularly among those who enjoy a combination of the culinary and musical arts. Several distinct dining areas offer guests a choice of different dining experiences. Twin Palms' sprawling patio is lively and widely regarded as one of greater L.A.'s nicer alfresco dining venues. Although not entirely shielded from the jazz, blues, salsa, swing or reggae sounds on the patio, the interior dining room is quiet enough to accommodate a modicum of conversation.

The former French Provençal menu has been converted to "California Coastal" cuisine, a style of cooking emphasizing fresh ingredients of the region and incorporating various elements from Latin America and the Pacific Rim. The menu includes items such as warm goat cheese salad with figs and candied walnuts in a hazelnut dressing, Maui onion soup and pan-seared, crispy-skinned salmon filet in a citrus-infused Zinfandel reduction. Open for lunch and dinner daily; brunch is served on Sunday.

The ambience is refreshing on a summer evening, still light at 7:00. The Jazz playing in the background is nice, although be prepared to speak up during conversation. The food is just OK though. You want more, the menu looks great. The salmon and pork chops were good, not great. The filet mignon is quite tasty. Our wine came late, our food came too soon on top of our salads. The cheesecake is TERRIBLE! the warm chocolate cake was the way to go.

I've been to Twin Palms a few times for Sunday brunch. I really enjoy it. They have unlimited champagne, the food is slightly above average, the service is excellent. They also have a live jazz band that roams around and plays really hot jazz. The band will come to individual tables and entertain guests. The lead singer will sometimes make up lyrics to go along with the people at that table that he just met. Great fun!

Was not impressed with the bar. Lack of beer selection is downer. There was a Bud Light tap for draught beer, but didn't have any. No Miller either. Higher priced beers is what they are into. Imports Corona beer, None of the good stuff like Pacifico or Dos XX.
