The Sushi is extremely fresh. Not frozen like other Sushi restuarants. I've been to dozens of sushi restuarants in LA and in Japan. It compares to the good ones in Japan.
Very very nice.

Excellent ! Food, ambience, service all exceptional. Toshi is a delight and very personable as well as helpful. The food priced right for the restaurant caliber and was delectable. I found nothing to complain about even though I usually can. A first visit with many more to come.

Nigiri was horribly priced when the quality was AVERAGE. The extravagant rolls were more fanciful than fulfilling. I simply don't see how a roll with spicy tuna, soy paper, and avocado can cost $20 and is the same portion as a CA roll. While the food wasn't bad, you could easily get the same if not better quality from any restaurant in little tokyo for fraction of the price. If you love celebrities and want to emulate their naive lifestyle of eating overpriced americanized food, suit yourself.

The receptionist totally displeased
us by letting the people coming
after us sit at Sushi bar. We asked
him why and he said the people
had a reservation while we were
told that they do not take
reservation for sushi bar. Then, he
said that they would take if you
were on a wheel chair. However,
the people were not on a wheel
chair.
This is the most unpleasant place I've ever been.

GREAT! GREAT! GREAT!
I love this place. The best japanese food in town. A great place for a romantic and quiet fun- filled date. When dining at Hamasaku- do not expect to just walk in and sit down immediately. This is a smaller, exclusive place- that's what gives it its personality. Especially on a Saturday night- Make a reservation and you will definitely have a more than pleasant experience! :)

The ambience is pleasant and the service succint. The salad that came with our order was lovely. However, I would not recommend this place if you are a purist. HamaSaku is known for its unusual and creative rolls. I'm sure this floats some people's boats, but all the sauces, creams, fried dough and fancy names fail to hide the fact that the quality of the sushi is just plain average. Don't come here unless the company is footing the bill. I'd rather go to Mori.

Where do we start? The lady in the front who is in charge is very rude. How would you like to wait for an hour while preference is given to regulars just walking in on a whim. The food is good, but outrageously priced. My sushi had a pungent odor that smelled like fish.

This restaurant came highly recommended by a co-worker. She neglected to tell me not to order the dumpling appetizers which consisted of two dumplings for over $20. The halibut was dry and the sushi itself was just satisfactory. I would only recommend the tenderloin which my friend was good enough to share with the rest of us. With all the restaurant choices in L.A. this is not one I would be going back to.... unless I enjoy throwing my money away.
