The cuisine here is "global," according to co-owner and self-taught chef William Annesley, who confesses to having pinched some of the dishes from restaurants he's visited around the world, as well as from mum herself.
For starters, try the Feta Cube ($6.75), warm cheese sautéed and topped with grilled tomatoes and basil or the Tuna Carpaccio - thin slices of seared tuna served on a bed of arugula and dipped in Wasabi vinaigrette ($8.75). Meanwhile, the house salad made with buttery Boston lettuce, new potatoes, quail eggs and beets and honey herb vinaigrette is absolutely divine.
As far as main courses go, there's a wide selection, including one or two odes to Morocco. Popular dishes include: the roasted Rack of Lamb ($24.75), served with potatoes, creamed leeks, fresh mint sauce and red currant au jus and the Chicken Curry ($12.75) with riata, mango chutney and basmati rice. Tangier also proffers an array of imported rubies, with an emphasis on Spain. And as hard as it is, keep room for dessert - the fresh berries Chantilly ($7.50) are sure to hit the spot.
A meal for two with drink averages $65. Yet for those wanting to spend less, simply venture to the Flip Side - a $15 and under menu that features comfort foods such as Fish N' Chips and Chicken N' Mash. Perfect, also for remedying a hangover.
Co-owner Oliver Haycraft helped design the simple colonial décor comprised of plants and Balinese hand-carved teak wood doors and window frames.
