River Phoenix Death Site, Viper Room
Early Sunday morning on Oct. 31, 1993, River Phoenix, who had won a Best Supporting Actor Academy Award nomination, died after he collapsed and suffered seizures in front of the Viper Room, the trendy Sunset Strip club co-owned by actor Johnny Depp. Toxicology tests showed that 23-year-old Phoenix died of "acute multiple drug intoxication of lethal levels of cocaine and morphine." The coroner's office ruled the death accidental.
