Hot Wheels Hall of Fame

Petersen Automotive Museum
6060 Wilshire Blvd.
L.A.,CA

Hot Wheels, the tiny mini-models of the hottest cars around, were created by Mattel Inc. 35 years ago and quickly became a favorite of kids and collectors alike. Now the Petersen Automotive Museum is unveiling a Hot Wheels Hall of Fame.

The permanent exhibition includes a collection of popular Hot Wheels models from over the years, interactive displays and rotating exhibits of full-size autos re-created or inspired by the toy line. For the opening, the Twin Mill, an original Hot Wheels design that was produced as a full-size, functional car in 2001, will be on display.

"The hall fits right in with everything we do here," said museum director Dick Messer. "Almost all of our patrons grew up with Hot Wheels." Each year, the Hall of Fame will honor legends of auto racing, design and culture. Fans can vote online for the "People's Choice" awards at www.hotwheels.com through September.
