Open End A new addition to the museum's collection, the rare, life-sized plaster sculpture of the Enlightenment writer and philosopher, Voltaire, is one of eight versions known to exist. Through Nov. 2 This giant survey features works by more than 30 African artists, most from the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Visitors will see how some African artists challenged traditional forms through improvisation. Through Sep. 1 Through Sep. 14 A survey of the artist's photographic works from the past 25 years includes the series "Hustlers," "Streetwork," "Heads" and "Lucky 13." Through Nov. 2 Works on paper and paintings by notable Chicana/o artists including Carlos Almaraz, Chaz Bojorquez, Diane Gamboa, Gronk, Gilbert "Magu" Lujan, Frank Romero, John Valadez and Patssi Valdez. Through Sep. 14 Paintings of the Edo Period from the Etsuko and Joe Price Collection, including screens, hanging scrolls and fan-format paintings. |
