Open End A new addition to the museum's collection, the rare, life-sized plaster sculpture of the Enlightenment writer and philosopher, Voltaire, is one of eight versions known to exist. Through Nov. 2 This giant survey features works by more than 30 African artists, most from the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Visitors will see how some African artists challenged traditional forms through improvisation. Through Nov. 2 Works on paper and paintings by notable Chicana/o artists including Carlos Almaraz, Chaz Bojorquez, Diane Gamboa, Gronk, Gilbert "Magu" Lujan, Frank Romero, John Valadez and Patssi Valdez. Through Oct. 28 Through Jan. 4, 2009 Through Oct. 25 Films by the late Taiwanese New Wave director include Taipei Story (1985) Oct. 11, A Brighter Summer Day (1991) Oct. 18, and Yi Yi (2000) Oct. 25.
