This Roman marble statue, found at Ostia in 1797 and restored shortly thereafter, was previously owned by Thomas Hope and later by William Randolph Hearst. Restorations made in the 19th century, removed in the 1970s, have been reintegrated for this exhibit as a means of illustrating changing attitudes toward the restoration of classical sculpture.
