1. As I read these comments I couldn't help but laugh. The concern is that writers did not support the May 1st rally in downtown LA? Writers don't volunteer for LAUSD schools? Ironically I am an LAUSD teacher in a largely (like 95%) immigrant area. My entire family, including my WGA member husband attended that rally. Last week my husband couldn't walk the picket line because he was doing his fourth or fifth round of writing workshops at inner city LAUSD schools, a program sponsored by the WGA. You need to get better reasons to not support the strike.

2. These people need to grow up and stop crying about there situation.They work a good job and yet they are unhappy.You would think someone with a higher education would be more wise and mature...but that is so not the case.DO YOUR JOB!!!!!!!!! If you don't like it then quit!

3. J. K. Rowlings was named Entertainer of the Year by EW. Hmmm. She wrote the Potter Series by herself. She didn't have one person write dialogue, another person write action, and another person do the rewrite. She pretty much did it herself. Now that's a REAL WRITER.

4. Wow, I'm really torn up about this. So distraught I can't find anything else to watch. As if channels don't run reruns already. You pay cable money to see the same garbage repeatedly. I've no problem watching reruns I like. Not to mention I have an arsenal of DVDs. As for the strikers: be glad you have jobs. There are people in this world who don't. .For all you who can't seem to live without knowing what will happen on your favorite show:pull your heads out of your rears & get real. There’s more to life than parking it in front of a television. Walk your dog, read a book, save tigers, smoke, volunteer at a hospice. Anything.

5. It's pathetic that the WGA strikers are taking time off for the holidays? Isn't a strike 24 hours per day? The other unions know what the WGA "writers hours" are and cross the picket line when the WGA are going for coffee. My sister and brother in-law are IA members and are currently working. Once the work stops, they have 3-4 house payments saved. These are the people hurt by the strike, not the WGA or studios.

Now that the Writers Guild has put iself out there front and center, its time for our 4th Estate (yes, that's you LA Times if you are still a journalism arm that is) to see how diverse this group of people really is. If we are to hold corporate america's feet to the fire on diversity issues, why are we not holding this sub-section to the same standard? Let see how lily male white this industry really is. All of a sudden the pity factor has deflated. Show me examples of Writers Guild of America folks volunteering at LAUSD schools...Hmmm. Not that civic after all huh...

7. Will the LA Times please do a story on how diverse the WGA really is? I want breakdowns on race, gender and sexual orientation. In a city that is 50% Latino, how many writers does that WGA have that are Hispanic? Exactly. Good riddance.

8. Industry - Please Fire Them All. They are all self-centered bad hollywood types. LA is better off without them. The writers should all be fired. People will lose their jobs because of them. I never saw the Writers Guild support any worthwhile causes...like the immigrants that feed them, bathe them, and wash them. Bye Bye Bye.

9. Wow. The Immigration Rights March drew 1 million angelenos. There were no Writers there for that one. This guys are spoiled brats...and they care about no one but themselves. Let them all get fired. New writers are always around the corner. Good riddance. I would feel more compassionate if they were actually progressive liberal minded individuals!

10. The strike hitting the local economy? Do you really think the union cares? This strike is hurting families and businesses as well. I doubt they give a damn about the collateral damage though. When will the union be hosting a big Thanksgiving or Christmas dinner for the non-union families affected by their selfishness?
