The McCoy Tyner Trio with Gary Bartz
Times rating:
Readers' rating: Unrated Reader reviews: Write a review He may be best known as the pianist in the classic John Coltrane groups of the '60s, but Tyner has had a diverse and influential career in succeeding decades. Widely imitated, the five-time Grammy winner has refused to remain locked in a predictable style, recording a long string of CDs reaching from partnerships with Wayne Shorter, Joe Lovano, Stephane Grappelli and Bobby Hutcherson to explorations of the music of Burt Bacharach and Duke Ellington. This time out he teams up with the adventurous alto saxophone playing of Gary Bartz. (D.H.)
