Sushi by day, dancing by night... Amagi is open for lunch and dinner, serving sushi and California-style cuisine (till 1 a.m. on Fridays!). After 10 p.m., the place transforms into a nightclub, offering a variety of music, from hip-hop to Goth to new wave with DJ Tsuyoshi of Tokyo, DJ Jam and DJ Tony Jr. of OG Sounds. There's also karaoke.

Eric Los Angeles, CAAt first glance: On one side, a pretty nice Thai-Japanese restaurant. On the other, around 6 o'clock opens the bar. This is the side you come to Amagi's for. At 8-ish, the Karaoke starts and the characters start showing up through the rest of the night, me among them. Strong drinks from the best no-nonsense bartender in town will help quickly build up the courage to get on stage with some surprisingly impressive singers for karaoke.
