Brennan's Irish pub attracts your basic meat-and-potatoes good ol' boys and the sorority girls who love them. Follow the red brick road and neon turtles to the cobblestone building where frothy beer is the nectar of the gods, billiards are the game of choice and hanging alcohol signs illuminate your inebriated trek to the bathrooms or the big booths.

Loud conversation, reasonable prices and a happening happy hour are also staples at this Lincoln Avenue watering hole. Thursdays are the best night to visit the bar as its signature turtle racing takes place out back on the track, unless there's rain. They also take St. Patrick's Day very seriously, opening the taps at 6 a.m. instead of the usual afternoon pouring time. If you're in the mood for a pick-me-up, a pick-up game of darts or to be picked up, especially if you've got a sport utility vehicle, Brennan's has what you're looking for.

On a Friday night, the place was near empty and the bartender was tremendously rude. I guess that's why the place was empty. One beer. Good night. Will not return.

The turtle races do rock. Great beer selection, fun atmosphere, all in a place where you can actually have a conversation. What a concept in SoCal these days.

Ambience A bit of a dive. Minimum draft beer requirements — Guinness, Bass, Harp and Newcastle — along with diner food and amiable staff and darkness. It's rowdy and loud on weekends when there's live music.
