CLUB BUZZ
Boughs of Holly's
Tommy Alastra takes the reins for a new Hollywood club night, and what's bottle service without the bottle?
May 11, 2006
Sizzling solo act
Promoter
Tommy Alastra's gone solo for
Holly's, the new Hollywood club at the former Paladar. Alastra has partnered with various scenemakers for the Lobby's hot Thursday night, as well as Saturdays and Tuesdays at Privilege in WeHo. But now he's hosting his own sizzler of a Friday at Holly's, owner
Rick Calamaro's latest clubland gem. It attracted visits last week from the likes of
Scarlett Johansson, Kate Hudson, Owen Wilson, Brian Grazer and
Charlie Sheen. New York's
DJ Keith brings the night some East Coast flavor.... And speaking of flavor,
Janet Jackson, Tommy Lee, Slash, Vin Diesel and the
Hilton sisters tore it up at the Lobby last Thursday, which continues to be rocked by
DJ Vice each week.... Before the arrival of Saints & Sinners and the Hideout,
Liquid Kitty made it safe to rock on the Westside. The Pico Boulevard lounge celebrates its 10th anniversary tonight with performances by
DJs Senor Amor, Orb and
Mr. Soul Satisfaction.... Hermosa Beach hang
Sharkeez went up in a blaze Tuesday morning. No neighboring buildings were harmed and the cause is under investigation.
No longer bottled up
Word on the street is some clubs are no longer serving the bottle with "bottle service." Instead, servers bring out a carafe filled with alcohol. But from what I hear, those paying $450 for a bottle of Grey Goose, or something similar, want to see the bottle....
C.C Deville is throwing a birthday party for rocker
Vince Neil at LAX on Friday.... Among those who turned out for last Wednesday's performance of
Ivan Kane's Royal Jelly were
Jenna Jameson, Sharon Lawrence and
Mötley Crüe's John Corabi. The heavy metal burlesque show takes place every Wednesday at Forty Deuce in Hollywood.
Coldplay warmth
Coldplay's Chris Martin is earning good karma by performing at the Regent Beverly Wilshire Hotel on May 20. The event, called "A Taste of Napa," is a megawatt fundraiser for UCLA's Jonsson Cancer Center Foundation (tickets are $500).
Jimmy Kimmel, Sarah Silverman, Eva Longoria and
Ellen Pompeo are hosting the benefit's live auction.... We hear Mile High Thursdays at
LAX are really taking off.... Sexy single
Nick Lachey was scheduled to celebrate the release of his new album Wednesday night at Mood in Hollywood....
El Guapo Cantina on Melrose is hosting Margarita Sundays with
DJ Mike Palmieri spinning.... And
the Root Down threw down at the Little Temple in Silver Lake last Thursday in memory of
Tarek "DJ Dusk" Captan, who died April 29 after he was struck by a car. More on DJ Dusk:
