Roxy still the rule
The Roxy continues its reign on the Strip for must-see clubbing.
Liv Tyler, Kate Hudson and
Mischa Barton rocked out to
Birds of a Feather, an acoustic show by the Black Crowes' bros,
Chris and
Rich Robinson, who got twangy for three nights this week. And last week's closing night of
"Hedwig and the Angry Inch" was witnessed by
Ricki Lake, Kelly Osbourne, Ione Skye, designer
Henry Duarte and
Incubus. The Roxy is bringing "Hedwig" back every Sunday night in June and July.... Meanwhile, upstairs at On the Rox,
System of a Down's Shavo Odadjian celebrated his birthday with his band and members of the
Wu-Tang Clan on Saturday night.... After working out zoning and permit kinks,
Element, the nightclub made famous by a Paris Hilton-Greek billionaire car crash scandal, reopened with a splash on Saturday night. Guests included
Jesse Metcalfe, the
Duff sisters,
Serena Williams,
Reggie Bush and
Jeremy Piven.
Seen on the scene
George Clooney, Sean Penn and
Sharon Stone dined at Ago in WeHo last week, and
Ludacris, Keanu Reeves and
Jewel kicked it at Mastro's in Beverly Hills.
Jim Beam's great-grandson,
Frederick "Fred" Booker Noe III, mingled with downtowners at a Golden Gopher meet-and-greet Monday. And Gopher regulars
Ryan Gosling and
Rachel McAdams were seen getting kissy-face....
Social Hollywood made its debut Tuesday as it partied with Motorola and Paper magazine to ring in Paper's "Beautiful People" issue. The new spot is part of the former Hollywood Athletic Club, and plans are for Boulevard 3 nightclub (also at the onetime HAC site) to open in late summer.
Surfing the Safari
Folks are digging Safari Sam's.
Circle Jerks-Black Flag frontman
Keith Morris DJ'd there on Sunday night, and such artists as
Dave Alvin, Carlos Guitarlos, Lucinda Williams, Texas Terri and
Daniel Lanois have checked it out. Fans of Friday's Kiss or Kill fiesta include
Poison's C.C. Deville, and this Saturday don't miss longtime clubland fave
Big Sandy & His Fly Rite Boys....
Shag opened with a bang and a pop. The new club at the old Concorde attracted the likes of the
Hilton sisters and
Lindsay Lohan in its opening weekend.... Costa Mesa's sexy
Sutra Lounge hosts a tribute Friday to Maxim's Hot 100 List.... And speaking of hotties, club girls are going ga-ga over
Ignite, an O.C. band headlining tomorrow at the Saffire in Hermosa Beach....
Rokbar hosted a bash on Tuesday for the
Holly Trolley, an alternative way to navigate around Hollywood. Anything to get the rummies off the road.
