Loved this show, saw it 5 times and was impressed how it changed over the course of 2 weeks, great songs, very fun and witty and poignant show, made me cry each time, universal themes anyone can relate to...and did I mention I'm 50? I look forward to seeing it in a full production.

sitting through EMILIE is like being harangued by someone who is fiercely interested in a subject, that no one else cares about. the production values are splendid (as always at this theatre) but the writing is turgid -and the acting is so hampered by the script, it is hard to know whether anyone is good or not.
anyone, that is, other than the lady who plays EMILIE. she is boring, unattractive, absurdly posturing - so much so that people would leave the room when she entered. and she is meant to be fascinating and beautiful. she seemed more
concerned with a straggling piece of hair than anything else at the performance i attended.
give this one a miss!

So very, very good--I haven't seen this massive musical in 15 years and it was a delight to sit there and be thrilled again by this age old tale with updated techniques and direction. I loved it!

AMAZING! Saw it on the cruise for Tom Joyner Foundation. SO POWERFUL! Im a man in my 50's and I was crying like a baby. So touching. I am a new fan of Layon Gray as well. THANK YOU for telling this much needed story. You are truly touched by the big guy! Fantastic!

Fabulous! The intimate setting at Pacific Resident Theatre puts the audience right in the center action in Brecht's perfect modern passion play of all-corrupting greed & abuse of amorally selfish power. Dalia Vosylius is totally outstanding in her star turn as conflicted street preacher, Joan Dark, supported by an excellent ensemble cast whose fine performances, especially those of Andrew Parks, Robin Becker, Daniel Riordan & Norman Scott as sleazy, manipulating titans of industry, give a contemporary cutting edge to Peter Mellencamp's great translation under Michael Rothhaar's wonderful direction, with Norman Scott's inspired set & lighting design. See it soon!

Outstanding cast, lots of big laughs, and fun sick humor. Plus it grows on you afterward. The tag line, "A romantic comedy wrapped in razor wire," pretty much says it. I'd actually rate this between Recommended and Rave, leaning toward the latter. If you liked "Killer Joe," this is in the same ballpark.

I've seen both of Greenway's "Schoolhouse Rock Lives" and I'm having a hard time determining which one my family loved more-- last years' or this sequel! I've asked my two girls (now ages 4 and 7) and they said they like this one! All the dancing, singing and costumes -- it was so much fun for all of us. They (and I) highly recommend this show, and they have both asked to see it again. Another thing to mention is that the production values are phenomenal for a small theatre.
