It takes a pretty big nudge to get my husband and I to drive over the hill for the evening, but we had been hearing good things about this show, so we decided to take the plunge on March 18th. It was really unexpectedly charming! The array of entertainers was certainly diverse, and even though we each had a personal favorite- I enjoyed Abel Silvas best, and hubby liked Laroo the lady magician- we were hard-pressed to find fault with any of the others. The rest of the audience seemed to be enjoying themselves too. Glad we went!

There's magic on fire, there's music from strange lands, there's even a frighteningly ratty yet still somehow loveable taxidermy Ringling Brothers elephant (that I think was only a baby when its fluids were removed and it entered its second life as a greeter for Veronique!) - There are shrunken heads and French Accents and Egyptian dancers and all manner of fetching exotica! Veronique's Red Velvet Variety show puts the odd and the ill back into classic Vaudeville!

I knew one of the performers in the last show, and was hoping to get on the guestlist, but when I was told that the venue only has 42 seats and that the artists were paid 100% of the door, I decided to spring for the $20 advance ticket, since I knew it was going right to my pal. I am really glad I did, because the place was packed and the offerings exceeded my expectations and then some. This show is a real winner. Unlike the previous reviewer, I think these players are primetime all the way!

Veronique's Variety Show Brings back good memories of my adventures at the Odeon Bar in San Francisco, where at any given night there could be clowns, burlesque dancers, punk rock accordian music, odd performance art about rodeo cowboys, and serious narration of 1950's documentaries. Veronique's show is a great outlet for performers in LA who are not yet ready for prime time or prime time is not yet ready for them.

I have to say that I live in Orange County and the event was more than worth the drive, several of my friends and I pilled into a car and made it in time for the second showing and I am sure glad we did. There were several different performers of varied types and the venue was cozy and inviting. The energy of everyone involved was amazing. I look forward to the next performance that I am able to attend and have recomended others to join us. The only thing I could say that would have made it better is if I lived in the area or they brought the show to me here in the OC! La Vie longue le Veronique's Red Velvet Variety Show!!!

I was lucky to attend Jan. show and I must say that the variety of performers and quality of talent had sir-past my expectations. I was most impressed with Veronique's singing and the 2 dancers one burlesque (who takes her skills to a higher artistic level) the other a belly dancer (she was in the moment that really got everyone going.) This is a gem of a place to see some unique entertainment that to ell you the truth I did not think existed anymore. It was like watching an old vaudeville show but with modern talent.

I've lived in L.A. for most of my life and have preformed with various musical groups. And I must say, that the Red Velvet Variety Show is one of the best shows to ever appear upon the Art Scene. It's an Exhilarating Kaleidoscopic Collage of great emotional depth. The momentum of this monthly show is only going to grow to new heights as time goes on too. For Veronique, an artist of high integrity has put together an Amazing Mixed Cultural Extravaganza that is quite an inspiration that is truly guaranteed to dazzle your senses!

Nestled within the petite confines of the Empire Amusement Hall resides a new organism, previously undiscovered - Proletarians beware, for they come by storm at Veronique’s Red Velvet Variety Show... Yes, it’s those young and old artistes who are making their presence known once a month. At this gala premiere, I was able to experience a unique performance which was reminiscent of my walks down less traveled paths back home in NYC - in the vein of an eccentric off-Broadway collective, which I used to frequent. This hopefully promising venture has much potential for growth and I see a person with a vision that is boundless. And because of this vision, this dream - I, too will join Veronique in a presentation of my own. I personally, will keep a close eye on this budding venture.
