Just wanted to let you know how much I enjoyed VICTORY at the Fountain Theatre. I have seen many productions there and expect no less than excellence, and I am never disappointed, but VICTORY was so outstanding that I had to write you to tell you about my experience. The writing was perfection, the set stunning in detail, and the 3 actors executed a complete and beautiful vision so heartbreaking I had tears in my eyes for almost the entire 70 minutes.

"Victory" was hands down the favorite show we saw when here or 10 days. We loved the intimacy of the theater, and the three actors, and the story. I appreciated the experience tremendously, because we were so immersed in the drama, it felt like we were in a different world. That's rare! made me LA proud. Thanks for the bristling-good production.

I am writing to recommend an outstanding and powerful play that I saw last night. I have seen a number of Fugard's plays, this short one the most brilliant, I think, with many layers of meaning - psychological, philosophical, allegorical, political and historical, with echoes of Camus, Coetzee, Orwell and Sophocles. It is about the end of hope, but also about aborted mourning, racism, sexism, tyranny and the law of unintended consequences, among other issues. Also brilliantly acted and produced. My adopted country of America could learn something from this play. So could we all. Don't miss it!

We were just blown away by "Victory". We had a pretty good idea what we were going into, but there were plenty of surprises. Great tension, unexpected acting choices, really distressing work, with plenty to think about afterward. I guess we're so self-focused that we don't always make the best decisions even when they're obvious. Fine work, and my congratulations to all concerned.

Devastatingly great theatre. Three actors who give raw performances that will stay with you for days afterward.

Victory at the Fountain was an extraordinary production - short, moving and very potent.

Once again Steven Sachs proves why Athol Fugard considers him to be one of the top interpreters of his work. While only an hour long, this is one of Fugard's most personal and heart-wrenching plays. While the entire cast is pitch-perfect, Tinesha Kajese gives a breathtaking performance which is seared in my brain. This production is a prime example of an LA theatre production that is comparable on every level with the best productions in London and NY.

"Victory" was, in a word, stunning. The performances, the dialogue, the story, all breath taking. My wife and I were both in awe as we left the theatre. We are both so happy to have been introduced to the Fountain and look forward to visiting again and again.

The play is a depiction of the misfiring communication between "benevolent" Whites and the Blacks who have to continually hide and disguise their sense of humiliation and rage over their social position. The acting, direction and dialogue are flawless and the psychological sophistication brought to bear in understanding the complexities and hazards in these relationships is exciting to watch. In a positive way we learn so much about ourselves even in the brief time of only one hour's duration of this captivating new play.
