New company Salem K Theatre presents Irish playwright Billy Roche's lived-in, absorbing ensemble piece about a Wexford betting shop's regulars, struggling to break free of the past. A strong cast features Joanne Whalley as a disappointed cleaning woman and Andrew Connolly (seen on Broadway in "The Lieutenant of Inishmore") as the man she can't get over.

This is a wonderful pla ywith an absolutely superb cast and production values. Truly a production that would make any theatre in London or NY proud.

It's an incredible play. The cast, the script, the set, every detail is lovingly attended to to form a well-rounded, utterly satisfying production. Go see it, tell your friends to see it, pay for strangers to see it. It's THAT good.

I saw poor beast in the rain on Saturday night. It made me cry. I could especially relate to the subtext of loss. Having left Ireland for London myself in 1976 in scandalous circumstances, leaving behind those I loved, the play made me homsick for Wexford. In fact as soon as my back improves I'm coming home to set the record straight. Thanks! Great job all...
