The Elizabethan equivalent of an action film, Shakespeare's history play receives a briskly straightforward staging from co-directors Geoff Elliott and Julia Rodriguez Elliott, who give us old-school Shakespeare, smartly done.

It was a delight to see and hear Shakespeare done so well! Geoff Elliott stole the show as throughly clownish Falstaff, and Freddy Douglas delivered a convincing portrayal of Prince Hal's inner nobility under the mask of a drunken playboy.

Geoff Elliot was miscast. He is far to effete to be Falstaff. Fat Jack is supposed to be earthy. But I agree with Michael Landman-Karny that the actors playing Hal and Hospur were particularly good.

I enjoyed Geoff Elliot’s Falstaff and J. Todd Adams’ Hotspur very much. A NOISE WITHIN has led me to begin reading Shakespeare’s plays, and I am seeking out more performances like this!
