This theatrical adaptation of the MGM classic "The Band Wagon," which features a new book by Douglas Carter Beane, gives the 1953 backstage movie musical an extensive face-lift. But as often happens with radical cosmetic surgery, the outcome isn't born-again youthfulness but flagrant artificiality.

I LOVED this show!! I didn't realize that I was seeing the last performance in San Diego yesterday. Funny, touching, joyous--It was the best thing I've seen at the Globe in years. The only thing that was a bit confusing were a couple of the flashback scens. I can't imagine it not being a hit in NYC.

I'm 31 years old. My girlfriend made me go to this show. I'll have to say, I WAS IMPRESSED. Very well done. Not a fan of theater but this may have turned me. Go see it if you can. Not a bad seat in the house at the Old Globe.

i loved everything about this show - particularly the ending which i found touching and endearing. but what happened to the song YOU AND THE NIGHT AND THE MUSIC listed twice in the program, but n ever staged. i understand the need to trim shows, but i could have done without I LOVE LOUISA and BLUE PAJAMAS,. which would have left room for YOU AND THE NIGHT AND THE MUSIC
