The La Jolla Playhouse was founded in 1947 by Gregory Peck, Dorothy McGuire and Mel Ferrer. Currently under the artistic direction of two-time Tony Award-winner Des McAnuff, the playhouse has earned its place in the international theatre, having presented countless productions of classics and new plays and musicals, including 23 world premieres, 24 West Coast premieres and four American premieres. The playhouse is a not-for-profit, professional theatre-in-residence with three performance venues -- Mandell Weiss Theatre, the Mandell Weiss Forum and the new Potiker Theatre -- on the campus of the University of California, San Diego.
Hours: Box office is open Mon., noon-6 p.m.; Tue.-Sat., noon-8 p.m.; Sun., noon-7 p.m. during performance weeks. And Mon.-Fri., noon-6 p.m. during non-performance weeks.
