Purchase tickets online Readers' rating: Unrated Reader reviews: Write a review In Joe Calarco's staging, which is workmanlike at best, Mare Winningham plays Amanda Wingfield, the Southern matriarch who desperately wants a gentleman caller to rescue her daughter (played Michelle Federer) from a fate of insolvent spinsterhood. The individual performances (including Michael Simpson as the playwright's surrogate, Tom) shed fresh light on familiar characters, but they never quite constitute a convincing theatrical household.
