Robert Allen Limoneira, CAThe stripped down approach makes this production effective and poignant. My Antonia is funny, moving and always engaging. It appears the theatrical concept of presenting an epic in a "bare bones" style evaded the reviewer David Ng. The production never lagged or lost the interest of this theatergoer. I don't place too much value on David Ng's review, as there is not a single mention about the accomplished actoring ensemble in My Antonia. How could one review a production without mentioning this alll important aspect? May 19, 2008
Elena Sedlacek Santa Paula, CAI attended My Antonia on the suggestion of a friend who thought I would enjoy the ethnic references of this play. David Ng's review, I feel, is completely off-base. The production is a fast paced journey through the many years and episodes of a life. This is not the book upon which it is based, so it needs to be viewed in that fashion. The music and even dance lift the moments of the theatrical work's pure poetic splendor of humor and pathos. The ethnic accents, touches, language, songs and dances spoke to me and were beautifully and authentically handled. Return to My Antonia details
