Reader reviews: Write a review | Read more reviews In its West Coast premiere, lyricist Mark Campbell's intimate solo musical about a gay urban romantic, created with 18 composers, is rather more acerbic and accessible than deep or lingering. Yet director Patrick Pearson rumples the sheets with fetching élan, and actor Dave Barrus makes a suavely engaging protagonist.

Glynnis Panorama City, CAI have to admit, this production took me by surprise. I'm not a big fan of musical theater, nor am I gay (this theater caters largely to a gay clientele). But this sensitive, sometimes poignant, sometimes humorous one-man medley appeals to anyone who's human with its universal themes of love, loneliness, and life's little ironies. The lyrics are particularly brilliant, the star is personable and honest, and the musical combo supports without intruding. Get past your biases, and try this one out!
