In this deft, literate narrative wrapped in a three-actor vaudevillian romp, Pulitzer-winning playwright Donald Margulies departs from explorations of modern relationships to give a playful but sympathetic nod to the audacious Victorian autobiographer whose creative overreach led to a hard fall from grace. Gregory Itzin gleefully embodies Louis de Rougemont as rollicking tale-spinner and sardonic observer, with stand-out support from Melody Butiu and Michael Daniel Cassady in multiple outlandish roles.
