Dedicated to exploration of the gay and lesbian experience, the 65-seat Celebration Theatre ranks as one of Los Angeles' consistently successful small theaters. It has become one of the country's leading producers of gay and lesbian plays.

This community-based professional theater runs its mainstage season Thursday through Sunday nights, more experimental shows Mondays through Wednesdays and cutting-edge productions late weekend nights. Celebration offers a workshop for lesbian playwrights and produces the results each summer in an annual festival. An AIDS educational show, "Go Axe Alice," runs special performances for gay youth, and the theater regularly donates tickets to AIDS-service organizations.
