Founded by Gilmor Brown in 1917 and housed in its present building since 1925, the Pasadena Playhouse is one of the oldest professionally operated theaters in Southern California. The Pasadena Playhouse produces more than 300 performances per year, including many West Coast and world premiere theatrical productions. Officially designated as the State Theatre of California and listed on the National Register of Historic Places, this nationally recognized institution remains an important artistic and economic force in Southern California.
