lawrence los angeles, casitting through EMILIE is like being harangued by someone who is fiercely interested in a subject, that no one else cares about. the production values are splendid (as always at this theatre) but the writing is turgid -and the acting is so hampered by the script, it is hard to know whether anyone is good or not. anyone, that is, other than the lady who plays EMILIE. she is boring, unattractive, absurdly posturing - so much so that people would leave the room when she entered. and she is meant to be fascinating and beautiful. she seemed more concerned with a straggling piece of hair than anything else at the performance i attended. give this one a miss!
